AQA GCSE Dance Course
Now taking Registrations for 2021
Our Dance GCSE Course started in 2005 and is open to all. Over 90% of our students complete the course in Year 10, a year before their other GCSE’s. We have a 100% Pass Rate with 145 students completing the course in the last fifteen years. We are proud that so many of our students gain FULL MARKS in their Practical Units! Over 90% of our students have achieved A*/B (Grade 9-4) and we are the only school in the immediate area to offer this GCSE course!
Our Dance GCSE class of 2019 achieved amazing results – 14 of the 15 girls took the GCSE a year early in Year 10. Ten girls achieved a Grade 8/7 (A*/A) and all achieved an A*/B – Grades 8-5.
2020 kicked off with a fabulous workshop from Boy Blue Entertainment for all our GCSE students and then all 25 of them (Year 1 & 2 GCSE) took to the Camberley Theatre stage in February to perform their own choreography, Group Dances and Set Phrases. Sadly for the Class of 2020 their GCSE course was cut short in March – luckily, we made a very last minute decision to reschedule their Practical Examination bringing it forward by 10 days and even though they only had 12 hours notice, the girls were real superstars and performed beautifully. We were so pleased that we were able to get all their work professionally filmed and that we have a record of their GCSE achievements. It was lucky that we had made this decision, as a couple of days later, Boris announced Lockdown!
Our current students have enjoyed GCSE Workshops with Professionals from the following companies: The Royal Ballet, Rambert Dance Co, James Cousins Dance, Luke Brown Dance Co, Stopgap Dance Co, Blue Boy Entertainment and Arts Pool. In June 2020, during Lockdown 1, our Year 1 students had an incredible workshop (via ZOOM) with James Cousins! During Lockdown 2 & 3 our LIVE online lessons have continued and in recent weeks we have welcomed Luke Brown, Boy Blue Entertainment and Christopher Tendai to our Virtual Studio.
