Love to dance? The AQA Dance GCSE is a creative and energetic course that allows students to learn about dance through performing, choreographing, and studying professional works. Students explore their own choreography, work with classmates, and study the work of professional choreographers. Throughout the course, they experience a wide range of dance styles while developing strong technique, creativity, and expressive skills. Dance GCSE also builds confidence and teamwork, helping students understand what makes a successful performance both on stage and in rehearsal.
✨ Perfect for students who enjoy dancing, being creative, and working as part of a team.
✨ A fun, active subject that builds skills for the future.

Assessment is split into two parts:
  • Performance & Choreography – 60%
  • Dance Appreciation – 40%

The NVSDD course lasts two years and is open to students aged 13+. A minimum of seven students is needed for the course to run.

Students attend a wide range of local schools, including The Marist School, Charters, LVS, St George’s Ascot, Wellington College, St Mary’s Ascot, Heathfield Ascot, Salesian College, Ranelagh, Brackenhale, Farnborough Hill, St George’s Weybridge, Tomlinscote, Luckley House, Windsor Girls School, Garth Hill, Gordon’s School, Sylvia Young Theatre School, The Magna Carta, Salesian School, Waingels College and Edgebarrow. Some of our students are home-educated.

If you enjoy dance, have lots of energy, and are willing to work hard, Dance GCSE is a great choice. The course helps students develop a wider range of dance skills, boost creativity and thinking skills, and build confidence through both group work and solo projects. Previous dance experience is required, and students must attend a regular weekly technique class.

Outstanding Results - Our Dance GCSE course has been running successfully since 2005 and is open to all, not just current NVSDD students. With 210 students completing the course to date, we are proud to maintain a 100% pass rate. Over 92% of students have completed the GCSE in Year 10, allowing them to focus on other subjects in Year 11. An impressive 98% of students achieve Grades 9–5 (A–B)**, with many gaining full marks in their practical units. In recent years, results have remained exceptional, with 100% pass rates and 60% of students achieving A*/A grades. We are proud to be the only school in the local area to offer this GCSE Dance course.

Inspirational Workshops - Dance GCSE students benefit from exciting professional workshops and masterclasses with leading companies and industry professionals, including The Royal Ballet, Kimberly Wyatt, StopGap Dance Company, Rambert Dance Company, Boy Blue Entertainment, Christopher Tendai and James Cousins Company. These workshops give students first-hand experience of the professional dance world and inspire excellence in performance and choreography.
