Frequently Asked Questions
What should my son/daughter wear for a trial lesson?
Children should wear clothes that are comfortable, smart, and safe for dancing. Leggings and T shirts are best or pink “fairy” outfits are acceptable for Ballet. Fees are due in the third week so children should have full uniform ready for the third week of term.
From what age can my child attend?
From 2.5 years (Babies Ballet)
Can my older child start?
Yes, children are put in age/standard appropriate classes
Will I have the opportunity to watch my son/daughter?
Parents are only permitted to watch classes during the final week of term and then with the agreement of the School. Special arrangements can be made in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the teacher. Pupils have the opportunity to perform in the school shows and events.
When are the holidays?
Classes operate on the “normal” school terms. Each term is normally 10 weeks – although sometimes longer in the Autumn.
How can I pay?
By cheque, cash, BACS or Paypal
How do I buy clothes, shoes equipment?
New and Second-hand Uniform can be ordered or bought from the uniform shop at the Marist which is open during the first three Saturdays of Term. Click HERE to download Uniform Leaflet.
Will my child take examinations?
Pupils have the opportunity to take the following examinations.
- The Grade and Vocational Ballet Examinations of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)
- The Modern and Tap Examination of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD)
- The Examinations of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA)
- The Natalie Vinson School of Dance and Drama awards for Drama and Theatre Skills.
Successful candidates receive certificates and medals. Exams are always optional.
