Classes
Ballet - from 2 ½ years old. In “Babies Ballet” children are taught basic coordination skills and simple technique whilst learning to interpret and understand different styles of music. At the age of 4 the pupils are ready for a more structured class and move on to Pre-Primary where they will work towards their first ballet examination. Pupils follow the Grade Examinations of the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
Tap - from 4 years old. The children follow the Grade Examinations and Medals of the Imperial Society of Dance (ISTD)
Saturday Jazz/Modern – from 5 years old. Pupils follow the Grade Examinations and Jazz Awards of the Imperial Society of Dance (ISTD), this is combined with free jazz dance.
Drama and Theatre Skills – from 4 years. All classes are workshop based and aim to develop self-confidence and enhance drama knowledge and experience through fun exercises and performance. Pupils will learn about vocal techniques, mime/movement, and the theatre as well as having the opportunity to express their own creative ideas through group and individual tasks. Pupils work towards the schools own awards scheme and on completion of each level receive a certificate and medal. (£3.50 extra)
Private LAMDA Speech and Drama Tuition - Pupils follow the LAMDA syllabus and Examinations can be taken in Acting, Verse and Prose, Improvisation, Mime, Spoken English and Public Speaking from Grade 1 - Gold Medal. The aim of these classes is to increase confidence and communication, improve physical and vocal skills, develop stagecraft skills and promote an interest in theatre. (The LAMDA Advanced Level Speech and Drama examinations are now accredited by the National Qualifications Framework at Level 3 and included in the UCAS Tariff. (eg. A “Distinction” at Silver Medal is awarded 55 UCAS points and this is equivalent, in points, to those awarded or a B/A grade at AS Level in any subject - www.lamda.org.uk/exams/pdf/ucasinfo.pdf.) Audition preparation can also be arranged.
Dance GCSE - The AQA Dance GCSE seeks to enhance the students knowledge and skills to perform, choreograph and think about dance. It will help them develop life skills such as decision making, creative thinking and the ability to cooperate with others. A Two Year Course for pupils in Year 9 and above.
Musical Theatre - 5 years +, A combination of Drama/Acting, Singing and Dance. Pupils have the option of working towards the LAMDA Musical Theatre exams.
Junior Company 15 – 6 - 9 years: Hip Hop/Street Jazz Dance
Company 15 – 10–15 years: Hip Hop/Street Jazz Dance
Senior Company 15 - 14 years +: Hip Hop/Street Jazz Dance (By Invitation only)
Conditioning, Stretch and Pointework/Pointework Preparation – For pupils in Grade 4 & above Ballet who wish to be considered for an RAD Ballet examination. Pupils will improve their strength and flexibility through stretching and Pilates based exercises. Additionally pupils will do pointework or pointework preparation.
